A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to confirming the identity of a parent, managing |
|
|
conservator, or legal guardian who gives consent for an |
|
|
unemancipated minor to have an abortion. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 164.052, Occupations Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) The board by rule shall establish the procedure by which |
|
|
a physician shall confirm that the person consenting to an abortion |
|
|
performed on an unemancipated minor is the minor's parent, managing |
|
|
conservator, or legal guardian, as applicable. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The Texas Medical Board shall adopt rules as |
|
|
required by Section 162.052(d), Occupations Code, as added by this |
|
|
Act, not later than December 1, 2007. |
|
|
SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act to Section |
|
|
164.052, Occupations Code, apply only to an abortion performed on |
|
|
or after January 1, 2008. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
