A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the payment of a fee or penalty imposed by a public |
|
|
hospital owned or operated by a governmental unit for the parking of |
|
|
a vehicle operated by or for the transportation of a person with a |
|
|
disability. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 681.006, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) The owner of a vehicle is exempt from the payment of a |
|
|
fee or penalty imposed by a public hospital owned or operated by a |
|
|
governmental unit for parking in a parking garage or lot if: |
|
|
(1) the vehicle is being operated by or for the |
|
|
transportation of a person with a disability; and |
|
|
(2) there are: |
|
|
(A) displayed on the vehicle special license |
|
|
plates issued under Section 504.201; or |
|
|
(B) placed on the rearview mirror of the |
|
|
vehicle's front windshield a disabled parking placard. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
