AN ACT
|
|
relating to certain transportation studies. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Transportation Commission shall |
|
conduct a study of the feasibility of prioritizing the distribution |
|
of funds to highway projects that enhance federally designated |
|
emergency evacuation routes. The study must determine the sources |
|
of funds available for those projects. |
|
(b) Not later than January 15, 2009, the Texas |
|
Transportation Commission shall submit to the legislature a written |
|
report containing the findings of the study and the commission's |
|
recommendations. |
|
(c) This section expires September 1, 2009. |
|
SECTION 2. The Texas Department of Transportation and The |
|
Office of the Governor, Economic Development and Tourism Division, |
|
will conduct a study involving their respective departments, the |
|
tourism industry, general aviation airports, and pilots in a review |
|
of the Texas Airport Directory and how it can be improved to |
|
contribute to tourism and economic development in Texas. The study |
|
shall consider the potential for including paid advertising and |
|
reducing or eliminating the directory fee. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
