A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to financial aid. |

|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

SECTION 1. Chapter 56, Education Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Subchapter R to read as follows: |
|
|
SUBCHAPTER R. MATH/SCIENCE TEACHER PREPARATION GRANT PROGRAM |
|
|
Sec. 56.500. PROGRAM NAME; PURPOSE. (a) The student grant |
|
|
program authorized by this subchapter is known as the Math/Science |
|
|
Teacher Preparation grant program, and an individual grant awarded |
|
|
under this subchapter is known as a Math/Science Teacher |
|
|
Preparation grant. |
|
|
(b) The purpose of this subchapter is to provide grant |
|
|
opportunities to eligible students to increase the number of math |
|
|
and science teachers in Texas K-12 schools. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
