A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the eligibility requirements for the renewal of a
license to carry a concealed handgun.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Section 411.185, Government Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
       (e)  For purposes of Subsections (c) and (d), a license
holder who otherwise meets all the eligibility requirements and
criteria for the renewal of a license is entitled to renew the
license, notwithstanding the fact that the person has been
convicted of an offense that is considered a felony for the purposes
of Section 411.172, provided that the offense was not considered a
felony for the purposes of that section at the time the license was
originally issued.
       SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
