A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility requirements for the renewal of a |
|
|
license to carry a concealed handgun. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 411.185, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) For purposes of Subsections (c) and (d), a license |
|
|
holder who otherwise meets all the eligibility requirements and |
|
|
criteria for the renewal of a license is entitled to renew the |
|
|
license, notwithstanding the fact that the person has been |
|
|
convicted of an offense that is considered a felony for the purposes |
|
|
of Section 411.172, provided that the offense was not considered a |
|
|
felony for the purposes of that section at the time the license was |
|
|
originally issued. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
