A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the programs and functions of The Texas A&M University |
|
|
System and Sam Houston State University. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 87, Education Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Subchapter M to read as follows: |
|
|
SUBCHAPTER M. OTHER PROGRAMS OF THE TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY SYSTEM |
|
|
Sec. 87.901. AGREEMENTS AND PROGRAMS IN WALKER COUNTY AREA. |
|
|
The Texas A&M University System may enter into agreements or |
|
|
establish joint programs with Sam Houston State University in |
|
|
Walker County or the surrounding area for the operation of an agency |
|
|
or program of the system or to otherwise meet the educational needs |
|
|
of the state. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
