A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the designation of a portion of State Highway 37 in
Franklin County as the Tom Ramsay Highway.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 225.066 to read as follows:
       Sec. 225.066.  TOM RAMSAY HIGHWAY. (a)  The portion of State
Highway 37 located in Franklin County is designated as the Tom
Ramsay Highway.
       (b)  The department shall design and construct markers
indicating the highway number, the designation as the Tom Ramsay
Highway, and any other appropriate information.
       (c)  The department shall erect a marker at each end of the
highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
       (d)  The department is not required to design, construct, or
erect a marker under this section unless a grant or donation of
public or private funds is made to the department to cover the cost
of the design, construction, and erection of the marker.
       (e)  Money received under Subsection (d) shall be deposited
to the credit of the state highway fund.
       SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
