A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to mandatory supervision for certain drug possession |
|
|
offenses. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 508, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 508.1491 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 508.1491. MANDATORY SUPERVISION FOR CERTAIN DRUG |
|
|
POSSESSION OFFENSES. Sections 508.149(b), (c), and (d) do not |
|
|
apply to an inmate serving a sentence for a third degree felony |
|
|
offense under Section 481.115, 481.1151, 481.116, 481.117, |
|
|
481.118, 481.121, or 481.129(c)(2), Health and Safety Code. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
