A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the issuance of Gold Star Member license plates.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Subchapter G. Chapter 504, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 504.658 to read as follows:
       Sec. 504.658.  GOLD STAR MEMBER LICENSE PLATES.  (a) The
department shall issue specialty license plates for the family
member of a person who died while serving in the United States armed
forces.  License plates issued under this section must include the
words "Gold Star Member" and a gold star.  A person may not be issued
more than one set of the license plates at a time.
       (b)  As used in this section, the term "family member" 
includes the following:
             (1)  Widow.
             (2)  Widower.
             (3)  Mother.
             (4)  Father.
             (5)  Stepmother.
             (6)  Stepfather.
             (7)  Mother through adoption.
             (8)  Father through adoption.
             (9)  Foster mother in loco parentis.
             (10)  Foster father in loco parentis.
             (11)  Son.
             (12)  Daughter.
             (13)  Stepson.
             (14)  Stepdaughter.
             (15)  Son by adoption.
             (16)  Daughter by adoption.
             (17)  Brother.
             (18)  Sister.
             (19)  Half brother.
             (20)  Half sister.
       SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
