A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to state funding for certain persons eligible for services |
|
|
under the federal law for prevention and treatment of breast and |
|
|
cervical cancer. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 32, Human Resources Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 32.0301 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 32.0301. BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER TREATMENT PROGRAM. |
|
|
The legislature shall appropriate not less than $4 million for the |
|
|
biennium beginning September 1, 2007, to pay for medical assistance |
|
|
under the program authorized by Section 32.024(y) and under the |
|
|
federal Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Act of 2000 (Pub. L. |
|
|
No. 106-354). |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
