A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to warning signs for fish and shellfish consumption
advisories or bans.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  The heading to Subchapter G, Chapter 436, Health
and Safety Code, is amended to read as follows:
SUBCHAPTER G.  AQUATIC LIFE FROM PROHIBITED AREAS; CONSUMPTION
WARNINGS
       SECTION 2.  Subchapter G, Chapter 436, Health and Safety
Code, is amended by adding Section 436.092 to read as follows:
       Sec. 436.092.  WARNING SIGNS NEAR BOAT RAMPS AND PIERS. The
department shall post and maintain signs in the two most widely used
languages in the area at all public boat ramps providing access to
an area of fresh water or at fishing piers for an area of salt water
that is affected by a fish or shellfish consumption advisory or fish
or shellfish consumption ban issued by the department advising the
public of the existence of the ban or advisory.
       SECTION 3.  The Department of State Health Services shall
begin posting signs required by Section 436.092, Health and Safety
Code, as added by this Act, as soon as practicable, but not later
than January 1, 2008.
       SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
