A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to requiring certain businesses to maintain certain
security measures.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Chapter 35, Title 4, Business & Commerce code, is
amended by adding new section, 35.126, to read as follows:
       Sec. 35.126(a).  SECURITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN
BUSINESSES IN TEXAS.  A company that is doing business in the retail
sector and employing five hundred employees in Texas, but only
utilizing one employee at a time, must either utilize one or both of
the following security devices:
       (1)  a closed circuit video system that records the video to
a data storage device and has cameras posted at each exit and each
entrance door;
       (2)  a personal security device worn around the neck of each
employee that allows the employee to sound an alarm in emergent
situations.
       SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
