A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to authorizing certain cosmetology license holders to be |
|
provisionally licensed as instructors. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 1603, Occupations Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 1603.2035 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 1603.2035. PROVISIONAL INSTRUCTOR LICENSE. (a) The |
|
department shall issue a provisional license as an instructor to an |
|
applicant who has completed at least three years of current |
|
verifiable experience as a licensed operator. |
|
(b) The department shall issue an instructors license to a |
|
provisional license holder who has completed the required hours of |
|
instruction in cosmetology in a commission-approved training |
|
program under Section 1602.255. |
|
(c) A provisional instructor license issued under this |
|
section is valid for one year from the date the license is issued. A |
|
provisional instructor license may be renewed not more than two |
|
times. |
|
(d) Not more than 50 percent of the instructors at a beauty |
|
culture school or other place of business where cosmetology is |
|
taught may hold a provisional instructor license under this |
|
section. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
