CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Together Rx Access card program has made it
  possible for numerous Texans with no prescription drug coverage to
  obtain medicine at a savings of 25 to 40 percent; and
         WHEREAS, Launched in January 2005 by 10 pharmaceutical
  companies, Together Rx Access was created to help low-income,
  uninsured individuals and families gain access to prescription
  medications and products at a significantly reduced rate; this
  free, easy-to-use program is sponsored by Novartis,
  GlaxoSmithKline, Abbott Laboratories, AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers
  Squibb Company, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, sanofi aventis, Takeda,
  McNeil, LifeScan, PriCara, Ortho Biotech, Ortho-McNeil,
  Ortho-McNeil Neurologics, OrthoNeutrogena, Ortho Women's Health &
  Urology, Vistakon, Janssen, and TAP Pharmaceutical Products, Inc.;
  and
         WHEREAS, More than five million Texans, or 23 percent of the
  state's population, do not have health insurance, including 21
  percent of the state's children; unless they have the resources to
  pay for staggeringly expensive treatments themselves, uninsured
  individuals have limited access to proper health care; and
         WHEREAS, Together Rx Access is helping to address the health
  care needs of the state's most vulnerable population, and this
  innovative program is indeed worthy of special praise; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby commend the Together Rx Access card program and
  participating pharmaceutical companies for their efforts to help
  uninsured Texans get prescription medication at reduced rates; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Together Rx Access as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
