H.C.R. No. 9
 
 
 
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times, loving
  moments, and meaningful accomplishments may comfort the family and
  friends of Cecil B. Long, who died on February 22, 2007, at the age
  of 88; and
         WHEREAS, A native Texan born on June 29, 1918, in Como to
  William Hamilton and Jennie Lou Houston Long, Cecil B. "Poss" Long
  was an alumnus of Sulphur Springs High School and received his
  bachelor's degree from East Texas State Teachers College in
  Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Long was a proud member of the United States Army
  Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in India and Burma
  during his service; returning stateside, he later became a teacher,
  coach, and administrator, serving for 31 years in the Blossom,
  Delmar, Reno, and North Lamar school districts; and
         WHEREAS, A loving husband, he was married to the former
  Latanae Taylor on October 18, 1946, in Greenville, and they shared
  many happy years together before her passing; he was also a
  cherished congregant of Lake Creek United Methodist Church; and
         WHEREAS, A caring educator and a devoted family man, Poss
  Long excelled in each of these roles, and his full and fruitful life
  will serve as an inspiration to all who were privileged to know him;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Cecil B. Long and extend sincere
  sympathy to the members of his family: to his sons, Mike Long and
  his wife, Sandy, and Bob Long; to his grandchildren, Chad Hagli,
  Jennifer Lindsey, Randy Long, Keelie Long, and Stephen Long; to his
  five great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Cecil B. "Poss" Long.
