CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Chilton High School Pirates captured the |
|
school's second state football title by defeating Windthorst High |
|
School 20-10 in the 2006 Class A Division II state championship game |
|
on December 23, 2006; and |
|
WHEREAS, Playing in Stephenville before an enthusiastic |
|
crowd of supporters, the Pirates dominated the favored Windthorst |
|
Trojans with a suffocating defense and a ball-hogging offense that |
|
scored three touchdowns en route to the team's first state |
|
championship since 1972; and |
|
WHEREAS, Head coach Robert Little instilled in his young |
|
charges the importance of teamwork and fundamentals, and his |
|
efforts were rewarded as the Pirates posted an impressive 9-1 |
|
regular-season record and a 5-0 playoff streak that led to the |
|
team's possession of the coveted state crown; and |
|
WHEREAS, Team members include Josh Landrum, Darvis Brandon, |
|
Bryan Childers, Travis Landrum, Dominique Waits, Victor Flores, |
|
Malcolm Dudley, Joe Mena, Raul Mora, Rodney London, Gerald Ford, |
|
Francisco Andrade, and Keith Walton; and |
|
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the |
|
culmination of a lifetime of hard work and dedication in the pursuit |
|
of excellence, and the memory of this achievement will stay with |
|
these talented young men for many years to come; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby congratulate Coach Robert Little and the Chilton Pirates |
|
football team on winning the 2006 Class A Division II state football |
|
championship and extend best wishes to the many individuals who |
|
contributed to the team's successful season; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives and Senate. |
