H.C.R. No. 44
 
 
 
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Kelly Maben of Spur set a new arena record for barrel
  racing at the 2006 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) held
  November 30 - December 9 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas,
  Nevada; and
         WHEREAS, Riding her 13-year-old gelding named Bubba, this
  Spur Elementary School teacher clocked the record time of :13:58 in
  the sixth round of the competition; ultimately winning five of the
  10 rounds at the NFR, Ms. Maben garnered earnings totaling more than
  $102,000 and finished ranked third in the world; and
         WHEREAS, Kelly Maben's success at the National Finals Rodeo
  comes on the heels of an outstanding season for her that included
  eight professional rodeo wins; demonstrating the talent and
  commitment to excellence required of a world-class competitor, she
  is indeed a source of tremendous pride to her family, friends, and
  supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby congratulate Kelly Maben on her spectacular performance at
  the 2006 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and extend to her warmest
  best wishes for success in all her future competitions; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Maben as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives and Senate.
