CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Kelly Maben of Spur set a new arena record for barrel |
|
|
racing at the 2006 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) held |
|
|
November 30 - December 9 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, |
|
|
Nevada; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Riding her 13-year-old gelding named Bubba, this |
|
|
Spur Elementary School teacher clocked the record time of :13:58 in |
|
|
the sixth round of the competition; ultimately winning five of the |
|
|
10 rounds at the NFR, Ms. Maben garnered earnings totaling more than |
|
|
$102,000 and finished ranked third in the world; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Kelly Maben's success at the National Finals Rodeo |
|
|
comes on the heels of an outstanding season for her that included |
|
|
eight professional rodeo wins; demonstrating the talent and |
|
|
commitment to excellence required of a world-class competitor, she |
|
|
is indeed a source of tremendous pride to her family, friends, and |
|
|
supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
|
hereby congratulate Kelly Maben on her spectacular performance at |
|
|
the 2006 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and extend to her warmest |
|
|
best wishes for success in all her future competitions; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Maben as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives and Senate. |
