H.C.R. No. 76
 
 
 
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Monsignor Larry J. Droll, vicar general of the
  Diocese of San Angelo, celebrates his 60th birthday on February 16,
  2007, and this important milestone offers a fitting opportunity to
  recognize this esteemed clergyman; and
         WHEREAS, Installed as vicar general in March 2004, Monsignor
  Droll has also served as pastor of St. Ann Parish in Midland from
  that date; since being ordained into the priesthood on June 15,
  1973, he has ably served at several parishes in San Angelo as well
  as churches in Ozona and Wall; and
         WHEREAS, Monsignor Droll held numerous positions in the
  diocese before his appointment as vicar general, including diocesan
  director of Catholic Relief Services, moderator of curia, director
  of seminarians, and chancellor; his tribunal assignments include
  procurator-advocate and defender of the bond, a post he continues
  to hold; and
         WHEREAS, A summa cum laude graduate of St. Mary's University
  in San Antonio, the monsignor attended Assumption Seminary while
  earning a bachelor's degree in sociology; after attending St.
  John's School of Theology-Seminary in Collegeville, Minnesota, he
  earned a master's degree in theology from St. John's University and
  a licentiate in canon law from The Catholic University of America in
  Washington, D.C.; and
         WHEREAS, Monsignor Droll has been active with the Knights of
  Columbus since August 1986, serving as chaplain for councils in San
  Angelo, Wall, and Midland; he was the spiritual advisor for
  Catholic Life Insurance from 1998 to 2006, and he continues to work
  in partnership with the Diocese of San Pedro Sula in Honduras; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his career in the clergy, Monsignor Droll
  has served his fellow Catholics with dignity and grace, offering
  comfort in times of sorrow, encouragement in times of change, and
  advice in times of crisis; his dedication and faith are an
  inspiration to all who know him, and he is most worthy of special
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby honor Monsignor Larry J. Droll on the occasion of his 60th
  birthday and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Monsignor Droll as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
