CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Kerr County are visiting the |
|
State Capitol February 20, 2007, to gain further insight into the |
|
workings of state government; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1985, this exceptional program |
|
provides opportunities for participants to increase their |
|
knowledge of vital public issues and to meet with the leaders who |
|
are making decisions that affect their communities; and |
|
WHEREAS, Classes provide a diverse membership with |
|
leadership training, networking opportunities, and instruction |
|
from influential figures from both the public and private sectors |
|
and encourage students to acquaint themselves with community needs |
|
and problems while evaluating possible solutions; and |
|
WHEREAS, The program, a project of the Kerrville Area Chamber |
|
of Commerce and Schreiner University, has graduated a number of |
|
notable area leaders, including former Kerrville mayors Joe |
|
Herring, Jr., and Stephen Fine, Kerrville councilman Chuck Coleman, |
|
Kerr County judge Pat Tinley, former Kerr County judge Fred |
|
Henneke, District Court judge Stephen Ables, Kerr County attorney |
|
Rex Emerson, and former Kerr County attorney David Motley; and |
|
WHEREAS, Also alumni of Leadership Kerr County are five past |
|
chairmen of the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce, which is |
|
celebrating 85 years of service to the community in 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Endeavoring to foster a more informed and involved |
|
citizenry and to develop new leaders in Kerr County, the program is |
|
helping to build a brighter and more promising future for the Lone |
|
Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby welcome Leadership Kerr County to the State Capitol and |
|
extend to all participants sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success. |
