CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Paris community lost a beloved native son on
  December 23, 2006, when Richard Lamoine Cunningham passed away; and
         WHEREAS, Born on December 24, 1939, to Aubrey C. Cunningham
  and Nelma Maurine Favors Cunningham, Dick Cunningham attended Paris
  Junior College and then went to West Texas State University in
  Canyon on a football scholarship; after college, he entered the
  Texas Department of Public Safety Academy and embarked on a
  distinguished 28-year career as a state trooper that included
  numerous commendations and his commission as a Special Texas
  Ranger; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cunningham was a devoted husband to the former
  Virginia Ruth Murray, whom he married on December 28, 1968; their
  union was blessed with two children, and they shared in the joy of
  welcoming into their family two grandsons and two
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, This valued member of the Paris community attended
  Oak Park United Methodist Church for many years; he belonged to
  Masonic Lodge No. 27 for 34 years and was a 32nd Degree Mason; and
         WHEREAS, An outdoors enthusiast, Mr. Cunningham enjoyed
  camping, fishing, and hunting, and he traveled to Colorado for more
  than 20 annual deer hunts; he also loved to play dominoes and ride
  motorcycles with his friends through the countryside; and
         WHEREAS, While the absence of this cherished husband, father,
  and friend is painful and difficult to endure, some measure of
  comfort may be found in the certain knowledge that his spirit will
  shine brightly in the hearts of countless individuals whose lives
  he touched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Lamoine Cunningham and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Virginia; to his son, Lewis Randall Cunningham and his wife, Kathi;
  to his daughter, Charlotte Jeanne Cunningham; to his grandsons,
  Jeremy Cunningham and his wife, Crystal, and Micah Cunningham; to
  his great-grandchildren, Mason and Trilby Cunningham; to his
  brother, Tony Cunningham and his wife, Leslie; to his
  brothers-in-law, Charles Murray and his wife, Grace, and Jay Murray
  and his wife, Pat; to his nephews, Clay Cunningham, Clint
  Cunningham, Josh Price, and Larry Murray; to his nieces, Lana
  Caldwell and Stefnie Baumann; and to his other relatives and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Richard Lamoine Cunningham.
