CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends of George Oscar Fisher, Jr., of |
|
Paris were deeply saddened by his passing on December 3, 2006; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on October 12, 1916, in Cooper, a son of George |
|
Oscar and Addie Adeline Kerley Fisher, Mr. Fisher served in the |
|
United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War, |
|
rising to the rank of staff sergeant; after the military, he |
|
attended Paris Junior College and was employed with the U.S. Postal |
|
Service for 30 years before retiring; and |
|
WHEREAS, This valued resident of the Paris community was a |
|
longtime congregant of the Calvary United Methodist Church, which |
|
he served as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the |
|
sanctuary building committee; he was also a licensed real estate |
|
agent, a former member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club, and a Mason; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Fisher was a devoted husband to the former Mary |
|
Lorraine Ammons, whom he married on December 9, 1948; he leaves |
|
behind a loving family and a legacy of service to his country and |
|
his community that will be remembered for years to come; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of George Oscar Fisher, Jr., and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Mary; to his sons, Brady Alan Fisher and George Kim Fisher and his |
|
wife, Rhonda; to his grandson, Chris Fisher; to his brothers Urna |
|
Fisher and his wife, Victoria, J. M. Fisher and his wife, Mary |
|
Ellen, and Robert Fisher and his wife, Ruth; to his sister, Betty Jo |
|
Richards; to his sister-in-law, Dorothy Fisher; and to his many |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
George Oscar Fisher, Jr. |
