HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, LeTourneau University in Longview is celebrating
  its 60th anniversary, and this proud occasion offers a fitting
  opportunity to recognize this outstanding school; and
         WHEREAS, Founded by namesake R. G. LeTourneau in 1946,
  LeTourneau University is a fully accredited interdenominational
  Christian university offering 60 academic programs for graduate and
  undergraduate students; and
         WHEREAS, With a total annual enrollment of just under 4,000,
  LeTourneau University boasts an impressive 15:1 student-faculty
  ratio, allowing for a small classroom environment and the
  development of strong personal relationships between professors
  and pupils; and
         WHEREAS, Students can pursue a range of more than 60 academic
  programs, including accounting, computer science, and kinesiology,
  but the school is perhaps best known for its cornerstone programs in
  aeronautical science, teacher education, engineering, and
  business; programs in biblical studies and Christian ministry are
  also an important part of the school's curriculum; and
         WHEREAS, Accredited by the Southern Association of Schools
  and Colleges, LeTourneau University is a member of the Council for
  Christian Colleges and Universities and the Evangelical Council for
  Financial Accountability, and its students take part in volunteer
  activities with the support of the Center for the Development of
  Christian Leadership; and
         WHEREAS, By encouraging students to embrace their Christian
  faith within a dynamic academic and social environment, the
  university's leaders are enabling young people to achieve their
  full potential, and the success of LeTourneau students is a tribute
  to the school's founding principles; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby recognize LeTourneau University on the occasion of its 60th
  anniversary and extend best wishes to the many individuals
  affiliated with this fine institution of higher learning; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for LeTourneau University as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
