CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Continuing a remarkable tradition of excellence, |
|
|
Sulphur Springs Middle School earned its 15th consecutive district |
|
|
championship title at the 2007 Academic University Interscholastic |
|
|
League (UIL) competition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Composed of bright sixth, seventh, and eighth |
|
|
graders, the school's team earned 732.3 points to best its closest |
|
|
competition by more than 275 points; contributing tremendously to |
|
|
this victory were 15 first place wins and 15 second place wins in |
|
|
topics that include calculator applications, dictionary skills, |
|
|
listening skills, maps, graphs, and charts, mathematics, number |
|
|
sense, oral reading, ready writing, social studies, and spelling; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the expert guidance of their coaches, these |
|
|
outstanding students have demonstrated tremendous dedication and |
|
|
perseverance in reaching this goal, and they may take great pride in |
|
|
their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
|
hereby congratulate the members of the Sulphur Springs Middle |
|
|
School Academic UIL team on their district win and extend to them |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives and Senate. |
