CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The year 2007 marks the 75th anniversary of Shannon
  Medical Center in San Angelo, and this occasion provides a fitting
  opportunity to recognize the contributions of this notable
  institution; and
         WHEREAS, Shannon Medical Center was established through an
  endowment of J. M. and Margaret Shannon, a pioneering West Texas
  couple who amassed a fortune through ranching, banking, and
  insurance endeavors; known for their generosity and down-to-earth
  nature, the Shannons offered a helping hand to many people during
  their lifetime, and in death, their legacy has affected generations
  of Texans; and
         WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1932, Shannon West Texas
  Memorial Hospital has expanded to provide numerous invaluable
  patient services, including a neonatal intensive care unit, cardiac
  catheterization lab, dedicated oncology unit, women's and
  children's hospital, level III trauma center, and regional heart
  center; and
         WHEREAS, In addition, the center offers hospital-based home
  health care, a pulmonary rehabilitation program, pediatric
  chemotherapy, and an award-winning air ambulance service; and
         WHEREAS, Shannon Medical Center has provided exceptional
  health care services for thousands of residents of the Lone Star
  State during its first 75 years of existence, and it truly merits
  special recognition on the occasion of this milestone anniversary;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby honor Shannon Medical Center on its 75th anniversary and
  extend to all those associated with the group sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Shannon Medical Center as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
