CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, With more than a century of joyful times, meaningful |
|
endeavors, and loving relationships, Myrtle Perry McDaniel of |
|
Menard has accumulated a wealth of memories to treasure; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born near the town of Crews on October 6, 1902, |
|
"Muzzie" McDaniel spent her early years on the family farm in |
|
Runnels County; she moved with her family to Abilene in 1915; a |
|
member of the Abilene High School graduating class of 1921, she was |
|
a cheerleader, and she was recognized by her fellow students as |
|
"Senior Beauty," "Class Favorite," "Most Popular," and "Best All |
|
Around"; and |
|
WHEREAS, She married Boyd Joseph McDaniel in 1921 and, over |
|
the 65 years they shared together, the couple lived in Big Spring, |
|
Abilene, and Menard County, where they owned a farm for many years; |
|
they raised two children together, and while her husband and her |
|
daughter have since passed away, today Mrs. McDaniel enjoys the |
|
company of her beloved son as well as five grandchildren, 10 |
|
great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many |
|
longtime friends; and |
|
WHEREAS, Muzzie McDaniel has experienced many important |
|
periods of history, including the dust storms of West Texas and the |
|
Great Depression, yet she has faced any obstacles put before her |
|
with strength, grace, and determination; the energy and good health |
|
possessed by this impressive woman is truly an inspiration for her |
|
family and friends, who surely count themselves fortunate to share |
|
in the richness of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby honor Myrtle Perry McDaniel and extend to her best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. McDaniel as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives and Senate. |
