HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The firm of Harrison, Walker & Harper of Paris has
  enhanced the architectural and historical legacy of the Lone Star
  State through its many award-winning construction and restoration
  projects; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1887, this notable company has grown into
  a highly respected general construction firm that has completed a
  long list of high profile projects in Texas and nearby states as
  well as in more distant locales such as Kentucky, California, and
  the country of El Salvador; and
         WHEREAS, A specialist in restoring vintage structures,
  Harrison, Walker & Harper has garnered a number of prestigious
  commendations for its work in this field; for remodeling a former
  printing plant into the City of Paris Police and Courts Building,
  the firm received a Best of 2006 honor from Texas Construction
  magazine; and
         WHEREAS, The company also won awards for its renovation of
  the courthouses in Hopkins, Red River, and Lamar Counties; these
  jobs were part of Harrison, Walker & Harper's active involvement in
  the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program, which is
  directed by the Texas Historical Commission, and the firm is
  currently at work on the Bosque County Courthouse in Meridian; and
         WHEREAS, Tackling conventional construction projects with
  equal diligence, Harrison, Walker & Harper has won additional
  accolades, including two prominent national honors; for its
  expansion of a Southwest Airlines facility in Dallas, the company
  received the National Merit Award from the Associated Builders and
  Contractors, and a project at a Campbell Soup facility in Paris
  garnered the illustrious Build America Award from the Associated
  General Contractors of America; and
         WHEREAS, Harrison, Walker & Harper is a Texas-based company
  that has been directed by a series of accomplished leaders,
  including founder J. W. Harrison, his son, Barney Harrison, J. W.
  Harrison II, and C. L. Walker; now under the able leadership of Chip
  Harper, the business continues to carry out its work with admirable
  professionalism, and the beautiful and functional structures it has
  created are greatly appreciated by the citizens of Texas; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby honor Harrison, Walker & Harper for creating and preserving
  impressive architectural landmarks throughout the Lone Star State
  and extend best wishes to the company for continued success; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Harrison, Walker & Harper as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
