CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of James William Daniel of Mount Pleasant, who died on March 9, |
|
2007, at the age of 86; and |
|
WHEREAS, Billy Daniel was born to Walker and Lura Norton |
|
Daniel on February 22, 1921, in Texarkana; he served his country |
|
with valor during World War II as a member of the United States Army |
|
Air Force; and |
|
WHEREAS, A successful businessman and esteemed civic leader, |
|
Mr. Daniel previously owned Pleasant Oil Company and was a former |
|
member of the Mount Pleasant City Council, as well as a valued |
|
congregant of First Baptist Church; in recognition of his many |
|
contributions to the community, he was honored as Titus County |
|
Citizen of the Year; and |
|
WHEREAS, Billy Daniel was also a devoted husband and loving |
|
father; he and his wife, Peggy, were the parents of three daughters |
|
and a son, the late Mike Daniel; and |
|
WHEREAS, James William Daniel could take well-deserved pride |
|
in a long lifetime of purposeful endeavor, and those fortunate |
|
enough to have shared in his love and friendship will forever hold |
|
him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of James William Daniel and extend |
|
sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Peggy |
|
Daniel; to his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Joyce Owens, |
|
Cindy and Mike Reynolds, and Sonny and Bill Love; to his |
|
daughter-in-law, Elaine Fraizer Daniel; to his eight grandchildren |
|
and eight great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
James William Daniel. |
