CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and accomplished life came to an end on March |
|
12, 2007, with the passing of Bruce B. Cloud of San Antonio; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Thomas, Oklahoma, on February 15, 1920, Mr. |
|
Cloud graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in civil |
|
engineering and served his country during World War II as a member |
|
of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he was promoted to the |
|
rank of lieutenant colonel; and |
|
WHEREAS, A 70-year veteran of the construction industry, Mr. |
|
Cloud enjoyed a highly successful career, including nearly a decade |
|
of employment with his father's business, Dudley R. Cloud & Son |
|
Construction; for more than 50 years, he worked for the H. B. Zachry |
|
Company, beginning as a field engineer and eventually holding the |
|
position of president and vice chair; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cloud had a long history of sharing his |
|
expertise and leadership with his professional community; a |
|
longtime member and former president of the American Concrete |
|
Paving Association, he served on the boards of the Texas State |
|
Technological College Foundation and the Texas Engineering |
|
Extension Service; in addition, he was a life member of the |
|
Associated General Contractors of Texas, serving the organization |
|
on the state level as president and on the national level as a |
|
longtime committee chair; he earned the title of National |
|
Outstanding Committee Chairman in 1997; and |
|
WHEREAS, Equally devoted to his family, Mr. Cloud enjoyed 61 |
|
happy years with his beloved wife, the late Virginia Dugan Cloud, |
|
and they were blessed with five children; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bruce Cloud built a life that was remarkably rich in |
|
family and achievements, and he leaves behind a legacy of integrity |
|
and generosity that will be forever treasured by those who shared in |
|
his love and friendship; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of Bruce B. Cloud and extend sympathy |
|
to the members of his family: to his children, Sheila Marie Cloud |
|
Kiselis, Karen Susan Cloud, Bruce Benjamin Cloud, Jr., and his |
|
wife, Vicky, Deborah Ann Cloud McKenzie, and Ginna Cloud Treadwell |
|
and her husband, Fred; to his grandchildren, Tim Kiselis, Becky |
|
Padilla, Guy Padilla, M'Lyssa Cloud, Jacob Cloud, Tammy Mixon, and |
|
Katelyn Treadwell; to his great-grandchildren, Tatum, Hannah, |
|
Zach, Cory, and Destany; to his sisters, Bobbi Puck and her husband, |
|
Armin, and Peggy East and her husband, Rod; to his nephew and niece, |
|
David and Patricia; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
Bruce B. Cloud. |
