CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Beaumont and the members of the
  Beaumont Police Department lost a great friend and public servant
  when Officer Lisa Renee Ligda Beaulieu was killed by a drunk driver
  on April 27, 2007, as she secured the scene of a major accident; and
         WHEREAS, Officer Beaulieu was renowned for her willingness to
  serve and her dedication to her colleagues and to the law
  enforcement profession; she overcame significant obstacles to
  achieve her dream of being a police officer and performed her job
  with great skill and tenacity; and
         WHEREAS, An individual who was as compassionate as she was
  resolute, Lisa Beaulieu exhibited a big-hearted generosity that was
  evident in her police work as well as in her devotion to her family
  and friends, treating others as she herself liked to be treated; and
         WHEREAS, Because of this tragic incident, a distinguished law
  enforcement professional and a caring citizen was killed, and the
  unnecessary circumstances of Officer Beaulieu's death stand as a
  reminder to the citizens of Texas of the tremendous danger
  associated with drinking and driving; and
         WHEREAS, Though her loved ones and fellow officers are
  understandably saddened by her passing, they may take some comfort
  in their fond memories of Lisa Beaulieu, a police officer whose
  achievements during her years on this earth are deserving of the
  greatest respect and admiration; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer Lisa Renee Ligda Beaulieu
  and extend deepest condolences to her family, friends, and
  colleagues; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Officer Beaulieu.
