CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Robert Kim Brown of Austin, who passed away on February 14, 2007, |
|
at the age of 53; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Paris on July 6, 1953, four minutes before |
|
his identical twin brother, Robert Brown grew up in a loving family |
|
and graduated in 1972 from Paris High School; he went on to attend |
|
The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a bachelor's |
|
degree in biology and graduated magna cum laude; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Brown began a dedicated career with the Texas |
|
Workers' Compensation Commission while pursuing a second degree at |
|
UT; over the course of his impressive tenure, he rose through the |
|
ranks to become the director of programs and program administration |
|
in the hearings division before retiring in 2004; he soon returned |
|
to his beloved profession as senior proceedings specialist at the |
|
Texas Department of Insurance Division of Workers' Compensation, |
|
which he served until the time of his death; known for his hard work |
|
and commitment to excellence, he was the recipient of numerous |
|
letters of commendation; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Brown enjoyed the love and |
|
support of his wife, the former Cinda Prosise, with whom he shared |
|
nearly 25 years; the couple were the parents of three children, |
|
Steven, Lindsey, and the late Stacy Kim, and Mr. Brown greatly |
|
cherished his role as father, enthusiastically attending countless |
|
Little League, soccer, and football games and band concerts; he was |
|
also an avid Cowboys and Longhorns fan and could often be found |
|
heartily expressing his opinion during games; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although his life ended far too soon, Robert Brown |
|
will long be remembered with admiration for his exemplary record of |
|
public service and with fondness for the thoughtfulness and |
|
generosity he demonstrated to friends across the Lone Star State; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby honor the memory of Robert Kim Brown and extend sincere |
|
sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Cinda Brown; to |
|
his children, Steven and Lindsey Brown; to his mother, Robbie |
|
Brown; to his brothers, Rodney Brown and Deryl Brown; to his |
|
sisters, Jane Montgomery and DeeAnn Cummins; and to his other |
|
relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
Robert Kim Brown. |
