CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Lloyd R. Smith of Collinsville, who died on May 7, 2007, at the
  age of 75; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Smith was born to James Dudley and Metta Bunch
  Smith on March 21, 1932, in Powderly; he served with the U.S. Army
  in Korea and Hawaii; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of East Texas State University, where he
  earned both bachelor's and master's degrees, this esteemed Texan
  taught vocational agriculture at Valley View, Paris, and Pilot
  Point schools; he also gave generously of his time as an elder at
  Bonham Street Church of Christ in Paris and at Collinsville Church
  of Christ; and
         WHEREAS, Lloyd Smith married the former Dorothy Long in Paris
  on December 24, 1954, and the couple became the proud parents of
  three children; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Smith will be deeply missed by those fortunate
  enough to have shared in his love and friendship; he lived a caring
  and purposeful life, and he leaves behind a legacy to be treasured
  by those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 80th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Lloyd R. Smith and extend sincere
  sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Dorothy Smith;
  to his sons, Randy Smith and his wife, Annette, and Dale Smith and
  his wife, Sara; to his daughter, Diana Hood, and her husband, Bruce;
  to his brother, E. L. Smith, and his wife, Karen; to his sisters,
  Edna Goss Hunt and Ruth Hutto; to his seven grandchildren, Rachel
  Silvester and her husband, James, Russell Smith and his wife,
  Sarah, Allie and Ryan Smith, and Stuart, Spencer, and Hannah Hood;
  and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Lloyd Smith.
