A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment to abolish the constitutional |
|
authority for the office of inspector of hides and animals. |
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 64, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 64. The [office of Inspector of Hides and Animals, the] |
|
elective district, county,
and precinct offices which have |
|
heretofore had terms of two years, shall hereafter have terms of |
|
four years; and the holders of such offices shall serve until their |
|
successors are qualified. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 65(a), Article XVI, Texas Constitution, |
|
is amended to read as follows: |
|
(a) This section applies to the following offices: District |
|
Clerks; County Clerks; County Judges; Judges of County Courts at |
|
Law, County Criminal Courts, County Probate Courts and County |
|
Domestic Relations Courts; County Treasurers; Criminal District |
|
Attorneys; County Surveyors; [Inspectors of Hides and Animals;] |
|
County Commissioners; Justices of the Peace; Sheriffs; Assessors |
|
and Collectors of Taxes; District Attorneys; County Attorneys; |
|
Public Weighers; and Constables. |
|
SECTION 3. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 6, 2007. |
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment to abolish the |
|
constitutional authority for the office of inspector of hides and |
|
animals." |
