R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the 2006-2007 class of Leadership Wharton |
|
County are visiting the State Capitol on this day to gain further |
|
insight into the workings of state government; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1986, Leadership Wharton County was |
|
formed to encourage area residents to increase their awareness of |
|
topics affecting their community and to dedicate themselves to |
|
serving their fellow citizens; and |
|
WHEREAS, Meeting regularly over the course of a nine-month |
|
period, participants develop leadership skills and enhance their |
|
knowledge of vital public issues as they attend sessions devoted to |
|
such diverse subjects as city and county government, education, the |
|
economy, and agriculture; and |
|
WHEREAS, Classes inspire the spirit of activism and provide |
|
members with opportunities for networking and instruction from |
|
knowledgeable people who encourage students to evaluate possible |
|
solutions as they explore community needs; to date, the program has |
|
produced 140 graduates; and |
|
WHEREAS, Endeavoring to foster a more informed and involved |
|
citizenry and to develop new leaders in Wharton County, the program |
|
is helping to build a brighter and more prosperous future for the |
|
Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby welcome the 2006-2007 class of Leadership |
|
Wharton County to the State Capitol and extend to all participants |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
