R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A respected figure in the Texas hospitality industry |
|
for more than 12 years, Craig T. Reid, formerly of Dallas, was |
|
promoted to the position of senior vice president of operations for |
|
Four Seasons--the Americas in January 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Lima, Peru, Mr. Reid was educated at |
|
Westminster College in London and honed his management skills |
|
through his work with the Savoy Hotel Group in London and his tenure |
|
at such renowned properties as the Ritz-Carlton Chicago, the Westin |
|
Hotel and the Grand Hotel in Washington, D.C., and the Four Seasons |
|
Hotels in Washington, D.C., and Boston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Reid arrived in the Lone Star State in the early |
|
1990s and spent four years as the general manager of the Four |
|
Seasons Hotel Austin; in 1997 he moved to the Four Seasons Resort |
|
and Club Dallas at Las Colinas, and his exemplary performance there |
|
distinguished him as an innovative leader in the industry; as |
|
general manager and regional vice president, Mr. Reid served as |
|
senior manager of the vast operations and large staff at the Las |
|
Colinas location and also supervised the management of five other |
|
U.S. hotels; while under his direction, the Dallas resort regularly |
|
received the prestigious Five Diamond Award from the American |
|
Automobile Association, and its reputation was further enhanced by |
|
the many noteworthy events that took place there, including the EDS |
|
Byron Nelson Championship golf match; and |
|
WHEREAS, Taking an active role in the civic affairs of the |
|
Irving area, Craig Reid was a strong supporter of tourism and |
|
economic development and served on the board of the Irving |
|
Convention and Visitors Bureau; he was also a member of the boards |
|
of the United Way and Baylor Medical Center at Irving and a driving |
|
force behind the Four Seasons for Life program, which raised more |
|
than $1.1 million to support cancer services in the area; and |
|
WHEREAS, Having accepted an exciting new career challenge, |
|
Mr. Reid is now based in Canada and is using his considerable skills |
|
to oversee the operations of other Four Seasons properties in North |
|
and South America; it is a pleasure to pay tribute to this |
|
accomplished professional and to the many successful business and |
|
civic projects in which he participated during his years in the Lone |
|
Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Craig T. Reid on his promotion to |
|
senior vice president of operations for Four Seasons--the Americas |
|
and commend him for his many contributions to the Irving area; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Reid as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
