R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of Judy Jones of Houston were
  deeply saddened by her passing on June 18, 2006; and
         WHEREAS, Born on March 26, 1940, Mrs. Jones was a member of
  Bellaire High School's Class of 1958, the school's first graduating
  class; after high school, she attended the University of Houston;
  and
         WHEREAS, A founding member of the Heritage Republican Women's
  Club, she was active in Harris County and Texas Republican Party
  politics for many years; additionally, she led two successful
  campaigns in which her husband, Sonny Jones, was elected to the
  House of Representatives, making him the first Republican to serve
  in that body since Reconstruction; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her political activities, Mrs. Jones
  spent 15 years working at the Texas Association of Public Employee
  Retirement Systems, where she earned the lasting respect and
  admiration of her colleagues; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Jones led a caring and accomplished life filled
  with many happy times and a special joy in celebrating the Christmas
  season, and her cheerful spirit and sense of humor will always be
  remembered by those individuals who were fortunate enough to have
  shared in her love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Judy Jones and extend
  sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her children,
  Melinda Little, and her husband, Russell, Michael Jones, and Maggie
  Ramey, and her husband, William; to her five grandchildren, Katie,
  Will, and David Little and Kit and Trevor Ramey; to her brother,
  Richard Howell, and sister-in-law, Dot Howell; to her niece and
  nephews, Connie and Maxfield McKenzie and Harris Howell; to her
  great-nephews, Alex and Hunter McKenzie; to her cousin and best
  friend, Marje Harris; to her close friends, Louise Wing and George
  Long; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judy Jones.
