R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Honorable Brock Jones is retiring as judge of
  the 112th State District Court on December 31, 2006, after a 22-year
  tenure distinguished by diligence and integrity; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Ozona High School, Brock Jones earned
  his bachelor's and law degrees from The University of Texas at
  Austin; he attained his license to practice law before the Supreme
  Court of Texas in 1967 and subsequently gained experience in both
  the private and public sectors, variously serving as a partner in
  the firm of Harrington, Levbarg, Weeks, and Jones, as assistant
  attorney general of Texas, as a staff attorney for the Travis County
  Juvenile Court, and as judge of Travis County Court at Law No. 1;
  and
         WHEREAS, Since his 1984 appointment to the 112th District
  Court, which encompasses Crockett, Pecos, Reagan, Sutton, and Upton
  Counties, Judge Jones has become well-known for his patience,
  professionalism, and even temperament; not once opposed for
  reelection, he has set a high standard for others in his field and
  is respected by judges throughout the state for his insight and
  advice; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Jones has made lasting and meaningful
  contributions to the judicial system of the Lone Star State, and it
  is indeed a pleasure to join with members of the legal community and
  residents of West Texas in honoring this esteemed jurist for his
  outstanding public service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the Honorable Brock Jones for his
  exceptional tenure as judge of the 112th State District Court of
  Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Judge Jones as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
