R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The well-being of the people of Texas depends on
  economic prosperity throughout the state, and independent
  businesses that employ Texans and contribute to their local
  economies are important components of a vigorous society; and
         WHEREAS, Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill, located in the historic
  Waterloo Compound in downtown Austin, is a locally owned and
  operated enterprise that is helping to make the heart of the Capitol
  City a vibrant urban district; and
         WHEREAS, Opened in 2003, Moonshine was developed by partners
  Buckner Hightower, Greg Schnurr, Chuck Smith, and chef Larry
  Perdido, all of whom brought to the undertaking valuable experience
  gained with other successful local eateries; these entrepreneurs
  established Moonshine in a cluster of 19th-century buildings that
  had recently undergone restoration; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to a delightful setting, patrons of
  Moonshine enjoy the comfort of classic American cuisine prepared
  with an innovative flair; and
         WHEREAS, Through the adaptive use of historic properties,
  Moonshine is promoting the preservation of those buildings that
  connect us to our roots and that richly enhance the character of the
  city; moreover, the commitment of its owners and staff to
  outstanding quality and service has created a restaurant that draws
  a highly appreciative clientele, further enlivening the downtown
  area and adding to its economic vitality; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend all those associated with Moonshine
  Patio Bar & Grill on their contributions to the city of Austin.
