R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, William Crenshaw Miller of Dallas died on November
  6, 2006, at the age of 100, leaving behind a legacy of
  accomplishment that will continue to resonate in the lives of
  others for many years to come; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Brownwood on December 31, 1905, "Dub" Miller
  was raised by his mother after the untimely death of his father from
  tuberculosis three months before his birth; the pair lived with
  relatives for several years, moving to Dallas in 1911, where he
  attended Oak Cliff and W. H. Adamson High Schools and earned
  undergraduate and law degrees from Southern Methodist University;
  and
         WHEREAS, The former Marine second lieutenant briefly worked
  in Texaco's legal department before he was invited by his
  father-in-law to join his commercial real estate firm, Bolanz and
  Bolanz, in 1937; for nearly seven decades, Mr. Miller dedicated his
  considerable energies to the business, later named Bolanz and
  Miller Realtors, Inc., and in so doing, played an important role in
  the growth and development of the city of Dallas; he served as first
  vice president of the Greater Dallas Board of Realtors and as
  president of the Dallas chapter of the Society of Industrial
  Realtors; he retired at the age of 98; and
         WHEREAS, Also a noted community leader, Mr. Miller served
  three terms on the Dallas City Council, beginning in 1953, and
  supervised the $7.5 million renovation of Dallas Love Field and the
  construction of the airport's current terminal; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Miller's extensive civic involvement included
  service as building committee chair for Dallas Memorial Auditorium,
  the downtown public library, Fair Park Coliseum, and the Preston
  Hollow Presbyterian Church; a member of the Dallas Aviation
  Council, he held the office of president of the North Dallas Chamber
  of Commerce and of the Arabian Horse Club of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Further benefiting from his participation and
  commitment were the boards of the Texas Presbyterian Foundation,
  the State Fair of Texas, Vickery ISD, and Austin College, which
  presented him with a Founders Medal for his active service since
  1960 and the Toddie Lee Wynne Award; other honors included the
  Lifetime Achievement Award from the Eastern Crabbet Arabian Horse
  Society, an AARP award, an Eastwood Cup for outstanding service as a
  realtor, and induction into the North Texas Commercial Association
  of Realtors Hall of Honor; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Miller shared 58 years of marriage with his
  beloved wife, Nell Bolanz Miller, until her death in 1994; the
  couple were blessed with two sons, Bo and Will, and happily welcomed
  two more generations of descendants into their family; and
         WHEREAS, Widely respected for his myriad civic contributions
  as well as for his wisdom and his kindness, "Dub" Miller made a
  positive difference in the city he was proud to call home, and he
  will long be remembered with great admiration and affection; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William Crenshaw
  Miller and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his sons, Charles Miller and his wife, Lasandra, and William C.
  Miller III and his wife, Judy; to his grandchildren, Scott, Andrea,
  Jeanne, Wes, and Justin, and their spouses; to his nine
  great-grandchildren, Brooke, Merit, Will, Travis, Harper, Miller,
  J. B., Kate, and Gray; to his sister, Louise Munroe; and to his
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
  of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of William
  Crenshaw Miller.
