R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Rivers Renard Glover I is being honored by the
  members of Graceland Community Church in Stafford for his dedicated
  service to that congregation; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Houston, Dr. Glover was ordained to preach
  in 1986; he founded and pastored New Direction Baptist Church and
  served as assistant pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of
  Christ, both in his hometown, before stepping into the pulpit of New
  Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Wharton; and
         WHEREAS, Now pastor of Graceland Community Church, this
  kind-hearted and highly esteemed leader attended Houston Community
  College and Union Baptist College and Seminary, earned a bachelor's
  degree from Texas Southern University, and graduated with honors
  from Andersonville Theological Seminary with a bachelor's degree in
  religion and a master's degree in theology; he received a doctorate
  of ministry from Faith Seminary in Tacoma, Washington, and was
  awarded an honorary doctorate from St. Thomas Christian College;
  and
         WHEREAS, In addition to meeting the spiritual needs of his
  parishioners, Dr. Glover works with a number of religious and civic
  organizations, including the National Baptist Convention, USA,
  Inc., and the Houston and Fort Bend/Wharton Chapters of the NAACP;
  he founded Upscale Revitalization CDC, which he has served as
  executive director, and has led Project NOAH (Needs Over and Above
  Help) and the Joy for the Journey Ministry, Inc., as president; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Glover is an outstanding teacher and orator who
  has made immeasurable contributions in the lives of others, and he
  is most deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Dr. Rivers Renard Glover I on his
  achievements as pastor of Graceland Community Church and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Glover as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
