R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends were saddened by the passing of
  Harvie Bird, Jr., of Kerrville, on August 15, 2006, yet the memory
  of his full and rewarding life may offer a measure of comfort in
  their time of loss; and
         WHEREAS, Born on June 17, 1928, in Kerrville, to Littleton
  Julia Rawls and Harvie Bird, Sr., Mr. Bird married the former Nina
  Beth Lee on March 12, 1949, at the First Baptist Church of Ingram;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Bird began his career in telecommunications with
  Ingram Telephone Company; in January 1954, he joined Hill Country
  Telephone Cooperative Incorporated, where he was promoted to plant
  superintendent and then assistant manager before retiring in 1993;
  his professional affiliations included memberships in the National
  Telephone Cooperative Association Membership Committee and the
  Texas Telephone Association Disaster Committee; and
         WHEREAS, This valued Kerrville resident had served as
  president of the Lions Club and was a member of First Baptist Church
  in Ingram, where he was a lifetime deacon; he also shared his time
  and energy as a director on the Texas Agriculture Cooperative
  Council; and
         WHEREAS, An avid hunter and fisherman who passed many
  pleasant hours at his lake house, Mr. Bird built a life that was
  remarkably rich in family, friends, and accomplishments, and he
  will always be remembered with great affection and admiration; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harvie Bird, Jr., and
  that sincere sympathy be extended to the members of his family: to
  his wife, Nina Beth Bird; to his daughter, Nina Jean Bird; to his
  sons, Gary Bird and his wife, Tamara, and Bobby Bird and his wife,
  Nancy; to his grandchildren, Bryan and Megan Bird, Ryan King, and
  Nathan Bird; to his sisters, Jean Nichols and Irene Hauser; to his
  brother, Richard Bird; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harvie
  Bird, Jr.
