H.R. No. 71
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, Edward and Margaret Higgins of Center
  Point celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 24, 2006;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Higgins were united in matrimony in
  1946, in a ceremony held in Lubbock; the native Texans lived in
  eight states during the 28 years Mr. Higgins served with the United
  States Air Force, settling in Center Point in 1973; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to flying 35 missions over Germany in a
  B-17 during World War II, Mr. Higgins served his country as a C-130
  pilot during the Vietnam War and is a former Kerr County Precinct
  202 commissioner; Mrs. Higgins has been a dedicated homemaker
  throughout her marriage and held the position of Kerr County
  Republican chair; and
         WHEREAS, This devoted husband and wife have taken much
  pleasure in a rich home life with their four children, Tom, Shawn,
  Patricia, and Randy, and their grandson, Stephen; and
         WHEREAS, Having witnessed innumerable changes in the world
  over the past six decades, Mr. and Mrs. Higgins have taken comfort
  in the reassuring strength of their love, and the steadfast support
  they provide to one another has allowed them to meet life's
  challenges and opportunities with grace and determination; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Edward and Margaret Higgins on
  their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for
  continued happiness together; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Higgins as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
