R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Emma Womack of West Columbia is deservedly being
  honored as Philanthropist of the Year by the Community Foundation
  of Brazoria County; and
         WHEREAS, The Philanthropist of the Year award was created to
  honor citizens who have contributed greatly to their community, and
  Mrs. Womack is an individual who has a long history of providing her
  time, talents, and resources for the betterment of Brazoria County;
  and
         WHEREAS, Generations to come will know this area's rich
  history because of her work in the founding of the Columbia
  Historical Museum, her involvement with the restoration of the
  Columbia Rosenwald School, and her long service with the Daughters
  of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the American
  Revolution; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Womack has also given generously of herself as
  an active volunteer with the Brazoria County Historical Commission
  and the San Jacinto Day Festival in West Columbia; and
         WHEREAS, This caring civic leader has often stepped forward
  to meet an unmet need, whether donating land for FFA students to use
  as projects, a house for UTMB to send doctors into the area to
  provide medical care, or money for a city park or the establishment
  of an endowed scholarship at Texas A&M for local students; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Womack exemplifies the best in community
  altruism and has set a sterling example of leadership to which all
  may aspire; and
         WHEREAS, Her many charitable contributions have touched
  countless people and made her worthy of the special recognition
  bestowed on her by the Community Foundation of Brazoria County;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Emma Womack on being named
  Philanthropist of the Year by the Community Foundation of Brazoria
  County and commend this remarkable woman for her many humanitarian
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Womack as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
