R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The year 2007 marks the 23rd anniversary of the
  Women's Legislative Days conference, a two-day event that aims to
  educate and encourage women to learn about and become actively
  involved in the legislative process; and
         WHEREAS, Established by a committee at the 1984 Governor's
  Commission for Women, the first official Women's Legislative Days
  conference took place the following year, during the 69th
  Legislature; over the past two decades, more than 7,000 women have
  attended these symposiums to study important issues affecting women
  and develop strategies to affect legislative decision-making; and
          WHEREAS, "Uniting Women for Fairness and Equality" is the
  theme for this year's event, which will be held on January 29 and
  30, 2007, in Austin; more than 40 state and local co-sponsoring
  organizations and their members are scheduled to participate, and
  the Honorable Senfronia Thompson is serving as the conference
  honorary chair; and
         WHEREAS, For over 20 years, the Women's Legislative Days
  conference has helped Texas women find their voices in legislative
  politics, and as they join together at the State Capitol, it is a
  pleasure to recognize the important efforts of this public-spirited
  group; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the Women's
  Legislative Days conference and extend to the participants of the
  2007 conference best wishes for a memorable event; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  presented to Carol Miller, chair of the Women's Legislative Days
  Steering Committee, for presentation to the 2007 conference
  attendees as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
  Representatives.
