R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, With great sorrow, the family and friends of
  longtime Del Rio resident Libbie Stool mourn the loss of this
  committed community leader, who died in San Antonio on September 6,
  2006, at the age of 79; and
         WHEREAS, Libbie Stool and her husband, Max, lived most of
  their married life in Del Rio, where Mrs. Stool took an active role
  in a number of civic activities and organizations; she was the
  president of the Val Verde County Library Board when the new library
  was constructed and a founding member of the Pan American Round
  Table, a women's organization that promotes understanding among the
  peoples of the Western Hemisphere; a caring parent, she became
  involved in a variety of school and youth organizations, including
  4-H and the PTA; as a member of the Val Verde Friends of the Arts,
  she aided in the group's successful effort to purchase a new
  Steinway grand piano for public performances; and
         WHEREAS, With an intense interest in the events of her state
  and nation, Mrs. Stool took part in social and political causes,
  becoming a co-founder of a local family planning organization and
  acting as the Val Verde County co-chair for the Texas gubernatorial
  campaign of Ann Richards; and
         WHEREAS, A member of the National Council for Jewish Women,
  Mrs. Stool will also be remembered for her commitment to her Jewish
  heritage and faith; her family and friends may take further comfort
  in the memory of her good humor and her keen intellect and in the
  knowledge that this caring advocate for her community has left a
  lasting legacy of passion and commitment that all may admire; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Libbie Stool and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  husband of 59 years, Max Stool; to their children, Ethan Stool and
  his wife, Patti, Ben L. Stool and his wife, Michele Ritter, and
  Elizabeth Friedman and her husband, David; to her grandchildren,
  Justin and Rebekah Stool and Samuel, Asher, Sydney, and Rachel
  Friedman; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Libbie
  Stool.
