R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Mexican American Democrats of Texas
  have long worked to advance causes important to the state's large
  Hispanic population, and their groundbreaking efforts have helped
  to ensure that the voices of all our citizens are heard and
  respected; and
         WHEREAS, Under the capable leadership of its presidents
  through the years, the Mexican American Democrats of Texas has
  successfully increased the representation of Hispanic Texans at the
  local, state, and national levels and will undoubtedly continue
  this proud tradition throughout the years to come; and
         WHEREAS, Following in the footsteps of such groups as La Raza
  Unida and the Southwest Voter Registration Project, members of the
  Mexican American Democrats of Texas have employed grassroots
  methods to reach the largest audience possible; by actively
  soliciting their constituents' opinions and faithfully
  representing their concerns, they have demonstrated the truest
  ideals of the democratic process, and the year 2008 marks an
  opportune time to honor the leadership of those who have given of
  their time and talents to benefit this worthy group since its
  inception; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the former presidents of the Mexican
  American Democrats of Texas and extend to them warmest best wishes
  for continued success and happiness in all their endeavors; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Mexican American Democrats of Texas as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
