R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 1996, Promise Helpers, Inc., has brought |
|
together like-minded women who have made significant contributions |
|
to the betterment of their communities; and |
|
WHEREAS, A nondenominational Christian group, Promise |
|
Helpers provides opportunities for female fellowship and |
|
encouragement while breaking down barriers of age, race, and |
|
socioeconomic status; and |
|
WHEREAS, The association was established in 1996 by 10 |
|
faithful women in Clyde; the ministry grew rapidly, and when |
|
founder Glenda Garrison moved to Weatherford in 1997, she brought |
|
the group's ideals with her and created a new branch in Parker |
|
County; and |
|
WHEREAS, Among its many accomplishments, Promise Helpers has |
|
provided Christmas gifts for families headed by single mothers, |
|
given scholarships to worthy high school students, and developed a |
|
food assistance program for area residents in need; the efforts of |
|
this notable organization led to the receipt of an Ameri-Corps |
|
Vista Grant, with six volunteers receiving living stipends to help |
|
the group fight poverty; and |
|
WHEREAS, For the past decade, the women of Promise Helpers |
|
have strengthened their spiritual commitment while helping |
|
countless Texans, and the continued existence of this notable |
|
organization reflects the ongoing dedication of its members; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with Promise |
|
Helpers, Inc., on the 10th anniversary of the founding of their |
|
organization and extend to them best wishes for the future; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
