R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Janis and David Goldstein are the 2007 recipients of
  the Max H. Nathan Award presented by the Houston Chapter of the
  American Jewish Committee (AJC); and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade was named in honor of the
  founder and first president of the Houston Chapter of AJC and the
  Jewish Community Council; the prize is awarded annually, and pays
  tribute to those individuals who have labored in the service of
  their fellow man and exemplified the finest traditions of their
  heritage through their outstanding endeavors; and
         WHEREAS, Active civic leaders, the Goldsteins have given
  generously of their time and talents to the Holocaust Museum
  Houston, Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, Jewish Community
  Center, and AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc., all of which Mrs.
  Goldstein has served as a board member; in addition, Mrs. Goldstein
  has served on the board of Girl Scouts and the American Israel
  Public Affairs Committee, and Mr. Goldstein has been a member of
  Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, as well as the
  Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Goldstein set a sterling example of
  leadership and service to which all may aspire, and their efforts in
  behalf of their community are making a positive difference in the
  lives of many; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Janis and David Goldstein on being
  named the 2007 Max H. Nathan Award recipients by the Houston Chapter
  of the American Jewish Committee and commend them for their
  invaluable service to others; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Goldstein as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
