R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Janis and David Goldstein are the 2007 recipients of |
|
the Max H. Nathan Award presented by the Houston Chapter of the |
|
American Jewish Committee (AJC); and |
|
WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade was named in honor of the |
|
founder and first president of the Houston Chapter of AJC and the |
|
Jewish Community Council; the prize is awarded annually, and pays |
|
tribute to those individuals who have labored in the service of |
|
their fellow man and exemplified the finest traditions of their |
|
heritage through their outstanding endeavors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active civic leaders, the Goldsteins have given |
|
generously of their time and talents to the Holocaust Museum |
|
Houston, Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, Jewish Community |
|
Center, and AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc., all of which Mrs. |
|
Goldstein has served as a board member; in addition, Mrs. Goldstein |
|
has served on the board of Girl Scouts and the American Israel |
|
Public Affairs Committee, and Mr. Goldstein has been a member of |
|
Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, as well as the |
|
Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Goldstein set a sterling example of |
|
leadership and service to which all may aspire, and their efforts in |
|
behalf of their community are making a positive difference in the |
|
lives of many; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Janis and David Goldstein on being |
|
named the 2007 Max H. Nathan Award recipients by the Houston Chapter |
|
of the American Jewish Committee and commend them for their |
|
invaluable service to others; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Goldstein as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
