R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An outstanding tenure in state government is drawing
  to a close with the retirement of Sandra L. McKey of Bastrop from
  her position with the speaker's office on January 31, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. McKey began her administrative career after
  completing her education in La Plata, Maryland; she held a number of
  positions with the federal government over the course of nearly a
  quarter-century in Washington, D.C., and spent her final two years
  in the nation's capital working as the executive secretary to the
  assistant commander for space technology at the Space and Naval
  Warfare Systems Command; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. McKey moved in 1991 to Central Texas, where she
  worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company and Medallion Hotels
  before joining the Texas Department of Public Safety three years
  later; after a notable tenure with DPS, she became director of
  administration for the Speaker's Office of the Texas House of
  Representatives in January 2001; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. McKey has been called on to perform a wide
  variety of tasks during her years at the Capitol, including
  coordinating and implementing all aspects of Members' Reunion Day
  and coordinating arrangements for annual meetings of the National
  Conference of State Legislatures and the Southern Legislative
  Conference, and she has brought to all of her duties the strong
  attention to detail and work ethic for which she is known; and
         WHEREAS, "Sandy" McKey has served the speaker's office with
  integrity and dedication, earning the lasting respect of those who
  have been privileged to work with her, and it is a pleasure to honor
  her for her service as she embarks on the next chapter of her life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Sandra L. McKey on her retirement
  from the Speaker's Office of the Texas House of Representatives and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. McKey as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
