R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, An outstanding tenure in state government is drawing |
|
to a close with the retirement of Sandra L. McKey of Bastrop from |
|
her position with the speaker's office on January 31, 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. McKey began her administrative career after |
|
completing her education in La Plata, Maryland; she held a number of |
|
positions with the federal government over the course of nearly a |
|
quarter-century in Washington, D.C., and spent her final two years |
|
in the nation's capital working as the executive secretary to the |
|
assistant commander for space technology at the Space and Naval |
|
Warfare Systems Command; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. McKey moved in 1991 to Central Texas, where she |
|
worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company and Medallion Hotels |
|
before joining the Texas Department of Public Safety three years |
|
later; after a notable tenure with DPS, she became director of |
|
administration for the Speaker's Office of the Texas House of |
|
Representatives in January 2001; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. McKey has been called on to perform a wide |
|
variety of tasks during her years at the Capitol, including |
|
coordinating and implementing all aspects of Members' Reunion Day |
|
and coordinating arrangements for annual meetings of the National |
|
Conference of State Legislatures and the Southern Legislative |
|
Conference, and she has brought to all of her duties the strong |
|
attention to detail and work ethic for which she is known; and |
|
WHEREAS, "Sandy" McKey has served the speaker's office with |
|
integrity and dedication, earning the lasting respect of those who |
|
have been privileged to work with her, and it is a pleasure to honor |
|
her for her service as she embarks on the next chapter of her life; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sandra L. McKey on her retirement |
|
from the Speaker's Office of the Texas House of Representatives and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. McKey as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
